CLASSROOM COMMUNICATION TOOLS

“Blue Communication Folder”

Parents,

In order to keep all communication in one location, your child will keep a “Blue Communication Folder” with them daily.  It will serve as our behavior communication log, assessment tracker, important announcements, etc.  Below you will find a detailed breakdown of how this communication folder is to be used.  We look forward to working with you and your child to have a successful year!

Positive Behavior Chart:  Each student will have the opportunity to earn positive behavior points.  With each “point” or space filled in their chart, they will get one step closer to earning their reward at the end of the designated row.  Every 10 spaces filled with positive behavior points earns a reward for making great choices with their behavior.

Class Calendar: Important dates such as assemblies, field trips, and other announcements will be added to this calendar.  We encourage you to check our website to add in any special dates that may get added after the calendar is printed.  This calendar will also be used to communicate any issues we might have during the day with classroom behavior.  During class, each student will have 3 verbal warnings (stop cards).  Once they have been given those verbal warnings (stop cards), and the behavior has not improved, the teacher will initial the date they were having an “off” day.  The student then has 2 days to get the date initialed by their parent.  Once a student has to have their folder initialed twice in one week, they will serve a silent lunch.  If a student has to get their folder initialed 3 times in a nine-week period, it will result in an office referral.  *If the student fails to get their folder initialed within two days, they will receive another initial in their folder.

Assessment Tracker:  One of our main goals is to establish a sense of responsibility in our students. These assessment tracker pages will be used for them to take ownership of their grades, and have the responsibility for charting their growth. It will also serve as a visual aid to help them see if they are falling below a passing grade.
